Record numbers for 14th STAR Conference in Milan

-          Record number of meetings requested: 1,700

-          62 STAR companies and 32 ELITE companies attend Conference

-          205 participating investors: 62 per cent  foreign, from 125 investment houses

On 24 and 25 March, to mark the 14th STAR Conference, 62 STAR companies will meet domestic and international investment funds at Borsa Italiana.

During the two-day event, companies will participate in public presentations and one-to-one meetings with institutional investors: 1,700 meetings have been requested for this year’s event, , with a daily average of 29 meetings per company.

205 investors from 125 investment houses, 38 per cent domestic and 62 per cent  international (UK: 18 per cent ; France: 12 per cent ; Switzerland: 10 per cent; Northern countries: 8 per cent ; US: 4 per cent ; Germany: 2 per cent ; Other: 8 per cent) participate in the Conference.

STAR segment: Overview

Today, Borsa Italiana’s STAR segment includes 67 listed companies with a total market capitalisation of €32.5 billion. International investor capital plays a significant role in STAR companies, with 91 per cent of institutional capital originating from foreign investors.

2014 has been a positive year for the STAR segment also in terms of liquidity, with trading volumes doubling from €9.4 billion in 2013 to €18.9 billion in 2014, an increase of 100.4 per cent year-on-year.

FTSE Italia STAR is up 30 per cent from the end of 2014. The index representing the STAR segment has constantly outperformed the FTSE Italia All-Share. From the end of 2012 it is up 78 per cent and from the end of 2003, it is up 193 per cent (data as at 20 March, 2015).

For the third consecutive year, the STAR Conference is open to ELITE companies (www.elite-growth.com). 32 ELITE companies will hold public presentations, learn from STAR companies on how best to engage in dialogue with institutional investors, and network within a dedicated area inside the ELITE Village.
