BORSA ITALIANA: September 2001 New monthly record
set for MiniFIB contract
The miniFIB contract, the first mini futures contract launched in Europe, set a new monthly record of 148,353 contracts in September 2001 (previous monthly record of 125,504 contracts set in March 2001) with an average daily volume of 7,418 contracts. The average daily volume year-to-date is of 4,814 contracts.
Since its launch in July 2000, Borsa Italiana's miniFIB contract has traded 1,273,185 contracts (for a total value of €51billion).
The average daily volume rose by 71% from 2,822 in 2000 to 4,814 in 2001 with daily nominal value up 36% from €132 million in 2000 to €180 million year-to-date.
On 20 September 2001 the miniFIB contract set a new daily record of 10,623 contracts (previous daily record of 10,414 contracts set on 14 September 2000).
The IDEM market, the Italian Derivatives Market, traded an average daily volume of 82,273 contracts in September, while the average daily volume up-to-date is of 69,081 contracts.
Among the top performing derivatives contracts were the Index products. The MIB30 Index options contract traded an average daily volume of 16,098 contracts (the average daily volume year-to-date is of 10,726), while the MIB30 Index future contract traded an average daily volume of 29,376 contracts (the average daily volume year-to-date is of 18,056).
