White House pressured Facebook on Covid content - Zuckerberg

Asked Facebook to censor some content (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 27 Aug - Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook-parent Meta, said the Biden administration "pressured" Facebook to 'censor' some Covid-19 content during the health pandemic.

'In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn't agree,' Zuckerberg wrote in a letter to the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee.

'I believe the government pressure was wrong and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,' he wrote in the letter which was dated August 26.
