Volvo picks Monterrey for new Mexico truck plant

Plant to cost around 700 mln usd (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 23 Aug - The Volvo Group said it had picked Monterrey in Mexico as the location to build its new North American heavy-duty truck factory.

In a statement Volvo said the new plant would cost around 700 million dollars.

It will supplement the group's US production and provide additional capacity to support the growth plans of both Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in the US and Canadian markets, Volvo said.

It will also support the growth of Mack truck sales in Mexico and Latin America.

The plant is expected to be operational in 2026.
