Vodafone sells 18% of Indus Towers; raises 1.7 bln eur

Still has 3.1% shareholding (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 19 Jun - The UK telecoms group Vodafone said it sold 484.7 million shares in Indian telecom tower operator Indus Towers, representing 18.0% of share capital through an accelerated book-build offering.

The placing raised 153.0 billion rupees (1.7 billion euros) in gross proceeds which will be used to substantially repay Vodafone's existing lenders in relation to the outstanding bank borrowings of 1.8 billion euros secured against Vodafone's Indian assets.

Following the placing, Vodafone holds 82.5 million shares in Indus, equivalent to a 3.1% shareholding.
