US opens probe into Delta over flight cancellations

Cancellations followed global IT outage last week (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 23 Jul - The US Department of Transportation has opened a probe into Delta Airlines over recent flight disruptions, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a post on X.

"USDOT has opened an investigation into Delta Air Lines to ensure the airline is following the law and taking care of its passengers during continued widespread disruptions," he said "All airline passengers have the right to be treated fairly, and I will make sure that right is upheld," he added.

The carrier has cancelled more than 5,000 flights since Friday as it struggles to overcome a worldwide cyber outage that affected flights round the globe.
