US futures flat ahead of Nvidia earnings

DJIA futures up 6 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 28 Aug - US futures were stuck in neutral ahead of a key earnings report from AI bellwether Nvidia.

Wall Street ended marginally higher yesterday as the Dow eked out a 0.02% rise to close at another record high. The S&P 500 and tech heavy Nasdaq both finished up 0.16%.

The focus today is firmly on chip designer Nvidia which is set to report second-quarter earnings after the market close.

The stock, which has risen almost 160% so far this year, is widely seen as a barometer for all things AI-related, playing a key role in driving indexes higher to hit a series of record highs.

Expectations are high today with analysts forecasting profit and sales in the latest quarter to have doubled on the same period last year. Premarket Nvidia shares were steady, up 0.3%.

Elsewhere shares in Nordstrom were up 4% in premarket trade after the department-store chain unveiled stronger-than-expected quarterly sales and profit and lifted guidance. Shares in PVH, parent of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, fell 7.7% after the group said sales had fallen and flagging demand in China and Australia was taking its toll.

Futures on the Dow Jones were up 6.00 points, or 0.01%, S&P 500 futures were down 0.75 points, or 0.01%, while futures on the Nasdaq were 9.75 points, or 0.05%, lower.
