US Fed's Kashkari opens door to September rate cut over jobs
Labor market is 'showing some concerning signs' (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 19 Aug - Minneapolis Fed president Neel Kashkari indicated he could be open to cutting interest rates at the US Federal Reserve's next meeting in September because of slowing labor market concerns.
'The balance of risks has shifted, so the debate about potentially cutting rates in September is an appropriate one to have,' Kashkari told the Wall Street Journal in an interview.
Kashkari, who previously said he believed a rate cut might not be warranted till year end, said the conversation had shifted because 'inflation is making progress and the labor market is showing some concerning signs.'.
