UK shares end lower as global rally fades
BT sinks (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 20 Aug - Shares in London closed lower as investors paused after the year's longest rally as they await more indications to the Federal Reserve's future policy moves.
Weighing on the blue-chip index, shares of oil companies were lower, as crude oil futures prices dipped amid concerns about Chinese demand and hopes of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza that could ease worries about Mideast supply disruptions.
Shares of BP lost 2.76% at 429.85 pence Among individual stocks, BT Group fell6.39% at 136.30 pence amid reports that Sky is partnering with BT-rival CityFibre to expand the reach of its broadband network.
The London FTSE 100 closed down 1.00% at 8,273.32 points.
