UK shares end lower after lacklustre China factory data
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 02 Sep - Shares in London closed lower after data showed that factory activity in China grew slower than expected last month.
According to data released by S&P Global and Caixin, China's purchasing managers' index for the manufacturing sector rose to 50.4 in August from 49.8 in July.
While in the UK, the adjusted purchasing managers' index for the manufacturing sector rose to 52.5 from 52.1 in July, hitting a 26-month high and matching the preliminary reading.
Among individual stocks, shares in Rightmove soared 27.43% at 708.00 pence after the Australian real estate group REA said that it is considering a cash and share offer for its UK peer.
The London FTSE 100 closed down 0.15% at 8,363.84 points.
