Spirit Airlines shares slide after wider Q2 loss guidance

Shares down 5% premarket (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 17 Jul - Shares in Spirit Airlines were down sharply in premarket trade after it said its operating loss in its fiscal second quarter would be wider than expected because of lower revenues.

In a SEC filing, the airline said it expected an adjusted operating loss for the three months of 160-173 million dollars compared with a previous estimate for a loss of no more than 145 million.

"Total revenue for the second quarter 2024 is estimated to be approximately 1.28 billion dollars, lower than previously expected primarily due to lower-than-expected non-ticket revenue," it said.

It previously expected sales of at least 1.32 billion dollars.

At 1304 GMT Spirit shares were down 5%.
