Sibanye-Stillwater sees H1 250.8-277.2 SA cent loss/shr
Sees adj H1 EPS 4.6-5.0 SA cents vs 208 cents (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Johannesburg, 02 Sep - The South African miner Sibanye-Stillwater said that it expects to report a loss per share for the first half of 2024 of South 250.8-277.2 South African cents (13.4-14.8 US cents) compared with earnings per share of 262 SA cents (14 US cents) a year earlier.
Earnings were significantly impacted by the impairment of property, plant and equipment from the US PGM operations amounting to 7.499 billion rand (401 million dollars), primarily due to lower medium- to long-term forecast consensus palladium price assumptions that resulted in a decrease in expected future net cash flows.
Headline earnings per share the first half, which, excludes the impairment, are expected to be 4.6-5.0 SA cents (0.2-0.3 US cents), compared with 208 SA cents (11 US cents) a year earlier.
