Saw June sales momentum pickup, continues into H2 (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 28 Aug - The UK financial services company Prudential PLC, also listed in Hong Kong, said that in the first half adjusted operating profit rose a reported 6% and 9% at constant currencies to 1.544 billion dollars, with annual premium equivalents up 6% to 3.11 billion.

New business profit dipped a reported 1% nit rose 1% at constant currencies to 1.468 billion dollars but rose 8% excluding the effect of interest rates and other economic impacts.

The IFRS net profit slumped to 182 million dollars from 924 million reflecting growth in operating profit being more than offset by an increase in short-term market fluctuations driven by interest rate movements across the region.

The group declared an interim dividend of 6.84 US cents, up 9% from a year ago.

It said that it saw a pick up in sales momentum in June, which continues into the second half of the year. In respect of 2024, new business profits are expected to grow at an annual rate consistent with that required to meet the group's 2022-2027 new business profit growth objective.
