Aim is to focus on Sweden (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 02 Jul - Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt plans to slow down its international expansion plans to focus on its giga factory in the north of Sweden, chief executive officer Peter Carlsson said.

Northvolt has a big factory project in the north of Germany and another in Canada as well as a factory in Goteborg, Sweden.

In an interview with financial daily Dagens Industri, Carlsson said the group would concentrate first and foremost on the core of its operations. "To go forwards in Germany and Montreal it is crucial that Skelleftea be the mother factory that the plan is based on," he told Dagens, speaking in Swedish.

He said the company had accrued delays and had to review the next steps. "We've been a bit too aggressive in our expansion plan. And that is what we're reviewing," he said.

The move comes as the transition to electric cars shows signs of cooling.
