Microsoft lower as Republicans seek probe over China doubts

Ask for probe into Abu Dhabi based AI investment (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 12 Jul - Shares in Microsoft were lower after Republican lawmakers said they were seeking an for an intelligence assessment into the company's 1.5 billion dollar investment in Abu Dhabi-based AI firm G42.

The Republican lawmakers cited concerns about possible ties with China.

They said they want the briefing on the deal, announced in April, before it advances to a second phase involving the transfer of export-restricted semiconductor chips and model weights.

In a statement Microsoft said it was working closely with the US administration and 'US national security will continue to be a principal priority.' At 1430 Microsoft shares were down 0.2%.
