Deal reportedly be worth some 4.5 bln eur (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New Yorl, 19 Jul - Social media company Meta is in talks to buy a 5% stake in Franco-Italian eyewear and ophthalmic lens producer EssilurLuxottica, owner of brands including Ray-Ban and Oakley, The Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter.

The position would reportedly be worth some 4.5 billion euros, based on the company's latest market value, the daily noted.

The deal would be reportedly part of Meta's strategy to enter the market of smart glasses, which could help it achieve the goal of building the so-called metaverse.
