Tokyo Nikkei 225 closes down 1.05% at 36,657 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo , 05 Sep - Japanese shares closed sharply lower, extending yesterday's selloff and leading the losses amid mixed Asian markets.

The Nikkei was down 1.05% at 36,657 points after dipping 4.24% in the previous session, dropping to its lowest in three weeks.

The safe-haven Japanese yen again rallied and was up nearly 2% for the week so far.

July wage data showed that verage monthly cash earnings in the country rose 3.6% year-on-year, down from the 4.5% increase seen in June.
