Nikkei 225 down 0.29% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo, 21 Aug - Japanese shares closed lower in cautious trade ahead of a speech from US Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell Friday amid growing expectations of an imminent US rate cut.

The Nikkei closed down 0.29% at 37,951.80 points.

Among the worst performers was Shiseido, down 5.9%.
