Japan shares close higher; data in focus

Tokyo Nikkei 225 up 0.61% at 39,583 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo , 28 Jun - Japanese shares closed higher, rebounding from yesterday's losses amid strong Asian markets.

Investors digested a mixed consumer price index inflation reading from Tokyo as well as industrial production figures from Japan.

Headline CPI was seen increasing, while underlying inflation remained weak and close to lows last seen in late 2022.

In May, the country's industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 2.8% month on month, according to preliminary data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Year on year, industrial output rose 0.3% year on year.

The Nikkei index closed up 0.61% at 39,583 points.
