In morning trade, the spread reached 1.405 percentage points.

The yield on the benchmark Italian bonds rose to 4.06% from 3.95% at Friday's close in the wake of the result of the European parliamentary election that led to gains for right-wing parties. The yield was the highest since December 2024.

In France, the yield of 10-year OAT government bonds rose to 3.20%, the highest level since November.

The French president Emmanuel Macron decided to dissolve the national parliament in the wake of the results of the European election.

Macron announced that he would call an early general election after his party lagged the extreme right in the European vote held yesterday in France.

The extreme-right National Rally is estimated to have obtained 31.5% of the votes yesterday, twice the score of Macron's party.

The first round of the general election will be held on June 30 and the second round on July 7.
