Intel shares rise after new AI chips announcement

Shares up 1.4% in premarket trade (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 04 Jun - Shares in Intel were higher in premarket trade after the US chipmaker unveiled new artificial intelligence chips for data centers and cloud technology.

Intel's Xeon 6 processor will deliver performance and power efficiency for high-intensity, scale-out workloads in the data center, the company said.

'Intel is one of the only companies in the world innovating across the full spectrum of the AI market opportunity - from semiconductor manufacturing to PC, network, edge and data center systems," said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.

"Our latest Xeon, Gaudi and Core Ultra platforms, combined with the power of our hardware and software ecosystem, are delivering the flexible, secure, sustainable and cost-effective solutions our customers need to maximize the immense opportunities ahead.' Intel's move comes days after rivals Nvidia and AMD also launched new AI chips to try and win market share in a booming industry.

At 1241 GMT Intel shares were up 1.4% in premarket trade.
