BSE Sensex rises 0.47%, NSE Nifty up 0.51% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Mumbai , 20 Aug - Indian shares closed higher, boosted by growing expectations that a US interest rate cut is likely to be in the cards next month.

Gains were led by banking and information technology stocks.

The BSE Sensex rose by 0.47% to reach 80,802.86 points while the NSE Nifty added 0.51% to end the session at 24,698.85 points.
