Effective Sept 2 (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 17 Jul - The UK bank HSBC said that its board has appointed Georges Elhedery as group chief executive, effective from September 2.

Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005 and has worked in financial services, in various high-profile international roles, for almost three decades.

He succeeds Noel Quinn, who will retire on September 2, and will work closely with Elhedery to ensure a smooth transition and an orderly handover of responsibilities, the bank said.
