Hong Kong shares erase losses, close slightly higher

Hong Kong HSI closes up 0.13% at 17,111 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Hong Kong , 12 Aug - Hong Kong shares erased earlier losses and closed slightly higher, extending a recent rebound amid strong Asian markets.

The Hang Seng index closed up 0.13% at 17,111 points after rebounding on Friday from a three-month low and rising more than 1.5% last week.

Traders awaited Chinese industrial production and retail sales data due this week.

Investors also braced for a string of key June quarter earnings, with teach giants Tencent Holdings, Alibaba and JD.com due to report this week.

In Hong Kong stock market dealings technology stocks were little changed after Friday's rebound, with the Hang Seng Tech Index down 0.20%.

Property stocks fell, extending a recent selloff, with the Hang Seng Mainland Properties Index closing down 1.07%.

Casino operators also sank after local authorities vowed to tighten oversight.
