Hong Kong shares close flat at 2-mth low

Hong Kong HSI up 0.01% at 17,718 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Hong Kong , 28 Jun - Hong Kong shares erased earlier gains and closed flat amid strong Asian markets, hovering at their lowest levels in two months after yesterday's losses.

Helping support investor sentiment, Beijing more than doubled the duty-free shopping limits for mainland tourists to Hong Kong and Macau, in a bid to boost consumption and growth in the two cities The Hang Seng index closed up 0.01% at 17,718 points, posting its first monthly loss since January.

In Hong Kong stock market dealings technology stocks again dropped, with the Hang Seng Tech Index dipping 0.96%.

Property shares also dropped, extending a recent selloff. The Hang Seng Mainland Properties Index fell 0.80%.

Concerns over a potential trade war with the West weighed on sentiment in recent weeks as Beijing warned of possible retaliatory measures over European tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports.

Weak data rekindling concerns that economic growth in the country was slowing also kept sentiment in check.
