Grifols shares surge on plans to delist the company

Shares up nearly 14% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Madrid, 08 Jul - Shares of Grifols, a Spanish provider of plasma-derived medicines and other biopharmaceutical solutions, were sharply higher on news that the company could be delisted.

At 1121 GMT, Grifols was 13.63% at 10.22 euros in Madrid.

The company said it had it received a joint takeover bid from its founding family and Canadian fund Brookfield. The parties aim to submit a definitive offer in the coming weeks following the request for further information on the company.

According to the daily Cinco Dias the deal could be worth around 5.5 billion euros.
