Gold futures reach new record of 2,562.30 usd

Gold futures up 18% since start of yr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London , 20 Aug - Gold futures reached a new record amid geopolitical tensions and growing expectations that a Federal Reserve interest rate cut is imminent.

The December futures contract rose 0.83% to 2,562.30 dollars an ounce, topping the previous record of 2,549.90 dollars per ounce set just yesterday. The spot contract grew by 0.78% to 2,523.90 dollars an ounce.

Since the start of 2024, gold futures prices have risen by about 18%.
