Ford shares sharply lower after Q2 profit miss

Shares down 17.6% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 25 Jul - Ford shares slumped in morning trading after the carmaker missed expectations on second quarter profits and failed to match rival GM in raising its full-year profit guidance.

Ford said its revenue in the three months rose to 47.808 billion dollars from 44.954 billion a year ago.

Adjusted earnings per share in the period was 0.47 dollars compared to 0.72 the previous year and a consensus of 0.67.

It said its adjusted operating earnings, or Ebit, was 2.757 billion dollars from 3.786 billion, below a consensus of 3.73 billion.

At 1436 GMT Ford shares were down 17.6%.
