European share prices flat to lower at mid-session

Frankfurt's DAX unchanged, London's FTSE 100 down 0.63% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London , 20 Aug - European share prices were flat to lower at mid-session, as investors bided time and looked ahead to a speech from US Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell Friday amid growing expectations of an immminent US rate cut.

Within Europe, the Swedish central bank announce today its executive board decided to cut the policy rate by 0.25 percentage points to 3.50%, noting that inflation has developed as expected and economic activity is weak.

On the data front, the annual inflation rate in the eurozone rose to 2.6% in July from 2.5% the previous month, figures from European Union statistical office Eurostat showed. The figures were in line with preliminary indications. In Germany, in July domestic producer prices of industrial products rose 0.2% on the previous month and fell 0.8% year on year, according to the statistics office Destatis.

At 1048 GMT, Frankfurt's DAX index was unchanged at 18,429.35 points while in London the FTSE 100 was down 0.63% at 8,303.99 points and in Paris the CAC 40 gained 0.16% to 7,513.82 points. Milan's FTSE MIB inched down 0.02% to 33,259.00 points while Madrid's IBEX 35 fell 0.14% to 11,087.51 points.
