Europe shares open slightly higher, halt 3-day selloff

FTSE 100 up 0.75%; DAX down 0.04%; CAC 40 up 0.56% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milan, 26 Jul - European shares opened slightly higher, rebounding from a three-day drop after gains in Asia and losses on Wall Street overnight. The Stoxx 600 index was up 0.18% in early trade.

Investors monitored earnings reports from European companies including BASF, Mercedes, Eni, Holcim, Air Liquide, Bouygues and NatWest.

Traders also awaited the US core personal consumption expenditures index, the Federal Reserve's favoured inflation measure, due later today.

The index is seen rising 0.1% in June, pulling the annual increase down a tick to 2.5%.

In European stock market dealings car makers sank, with Mercedes Benz down 0.70% after its slashed its annual profit margin forecast.

US stock futures pointed to a slightly higher open, with the major US averages heading for weekly losses.

At 0750 GMT, the London FTSE 100 was up 0.75% at 8,247 points, the Frankfurt DAX was down 0.04% at 18,296 points, the Paris CAC 40 up 0.56% at 7,468 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB was up 0.03% at 33,782 points, and in Madrid the IBEX 35 was down 0.35% at 11,106 points.
