Europe shares end extend losses amid global slowdown fears

FTSE down 0.35%; DAX down 0.92%; CAC 40 down 0.98% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 04 Sep - European shares closed lower after a selloff in the US the previous day.

Wall Street suffered its worst day yesterday since August 5 as jitters over weak manufacturing data sent indexes lower.

As inflation eases, investors are turning their attention to slowing economic growth and the possibility it might tip the US economy into a recession or a sharp downturn.

Markets are awaiting a key jobs report later this week for more clues on how the Federal Reserve might plan its much-expected monetary pivot.

The London FTSE 100 closed down 0.35% at 8,269.60 points, the Frankfurt DAX lost 0.92% at 18,584.76 points, the Paris CAC 40 fell 0.98% at 7,500.97 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB dropped 0.53% at 33,682.26 points, and in Madrid the IBEX 35 closed 0.33% lower at 11,241.44 points.
