Europe shares end broadly higher amid upbeat global mood

FTSE up 0.82%; DAX up 0.99%; CAC 40 up 1.34% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 20 Jun - European shares closed broadly higher amid upbeat global sentiment as US stocks resumed trading higher after the Juneteenth holiday.

Markets assessed the Bank of England's decision to leave rates unchanged, as widely expected.

Meanwhile, the the Swiss National Bank cut rates by 25 basis points to 1.25% and said that it is also willing to be active in the foreign exchange market as necessary. The decision follows a similar move in March.

Also, the Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Committee of Norges Bank, Norway's central bank, said it decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 4.5% and is likely to keep it at this level until the end of the year, before gradually reducing it.

The London FTSE 100 closed up 0.82% at 8,272.46 points, the Frankfurt DAX added 0.99% at 18,246.75 points, the Paris CAC 40 gained 1.34% at 7,671.34 points, while in Milan the FTSE MIB rose 1.37% at 33,675.15 points, and in Madrid the IBEX 35 closed 0.94% higher at 11,160.70 points.
