Follows German court ruling annulling EU's initial approval (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 08 Jul - The European Commission said it had opened a probe to assess whether a 6 billion euro recapitalisation of German airline Lufthansa breached state aid rules.

The measure was initially approved by the Commission in 2020 but was subsequently annulled by the General Court last year.

An appeal submitted by Lufthansa is still pending.

"Following the General Court's judgment, the Commission will now carry out a more in-depth investigation to assess further the recapitalisation measure," the commission said.
