Largest PV plant in northern Italy (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome, 25 Jun - The Italian utility Enel said it has put into operation an 87 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) plant in Trino, in Italy's Piedmont region, which now ranks as the largest solar operating farm in northern Italian.

The plant employs bifacial photovoltaic modules to maximize renewable energy generation. It is integrated with a 25 MW lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) with a storage capacity of 100 MWh, which Enel noted will ensure proper operation of the electrical system and will provide ancillary services to the grid. An additional, larger storage system is scheduled for installation at the site in the near future, Enel said.
