CrowdStrike shares sink after IT outage disruption

Shares down almost 10% in early trade (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 19 Jul - Shares in CrowdStrike slumped in early trade after the cybersecurity company acknowledged one of its update patches had triggered outages for businesses round the world using Microsoft Windows platform.

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said 'a defect found in a single content update for Microsoft Windows hosts,' had caused the issue which hit a range of businesses stretching from airlines to retailers and banks.

Kurtz apologised for the impact of the disruptions, adding the problem had been identified and a fix deployed.

At 1400 GMT CrowdStrike shares were down 9.8%. Microsoft was down 0.8%.
