Shanghai Composite down 0.54% at 3,048 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 06 Jun - Chinese stocks closed lower, extending losses in the previous session and underperforming their Asian peers.

Caution however prevailed in the city after yesterday's moderate losses as investors continued to weigh mixed economic data coming out of China and analysts highlighted structural economic challenges.

In mainland stock market dealings real estate shares weighed as doubts remained on Beijing's efforts to bolster the sector.

Healthcare stocks also slipped.

The Shanghai Composite closed down 0.54% at 3,048 points while the Shenzhen CSI 300 closed down 0.07% at 3,592 points.
