Chinese shares closed moderately higher; data eyed

Shanghai Composite up 0.34% at 2,867 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 13 Aug - Chinese shares closed moderately higher near six-month lows in cautious trade after falling over the past weeks on continued growth concerns.

Investors awaited Chinese industrial production and retail sales data due on Thursday.

Traders also braced for a string of key June quarter earnings, with tech giants Tencent Holdings, Alibaba and JD.com due to report this week.

The Shanghai Composite closed up 0.34% at 2,867 points, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 rose 0.26% to 3,334 points.

Both indexes were down about 0.8% last week, posting a third straight weekly loss.
