Shanghai Composite up 1.06% at 2,970 (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 11 Jul - Chinese shares closed higher, rebounding from yesterday's losses and resuming a recent rally amid strong Asian markets.

Helping support the mainland markets, China's Securities Regulatory Commission yesterday announced further curbs on short-selling and said that securities re-lending - in which brokers borrow shares for clients to short sell - would be suspended.

Yesterday a disappointing June consumer inflation print further weighed on investor sentiment.

Traders looked ahead to a meeting of China's political leaders from July 15 to 18 known as the Third Plenum, amid expectations that important economic measures could be announced during the event.

In mainland stock market dealings new energy shares led the gains.

Consumer staples, real estate and healthcare shares also were broadly higher .The Shanghai Composite closed up 1.06% at 2,970 points, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 rose 1.14% to 3,468 points.
