China stocks slip on growth concerns after 3-day weekend

Shanghai Composite down 0.76% at 3,028 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 11 Jun - Chinese stocks closed lower amid mixed Asian markets as the markets reopened in Shanghai and Shenzhen after the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

Continued concerns over China's sluggish economic growth weighed on investor sentiment after a slew of mixed data.

Fresh figures showed that domestic tourism spending rose 8.1% year-on-year during the extended weekend, but momentum weakened compared to other recent short holidays.

Last week mixed trade data from the country showed that exports rose more than expected in May on strong industrial production and improving overseas demand, but imports grew at a slower-than-expected pace amid weak local demand and consumer spending.

In mainland stock market dealings consumer sector and non-ferrous metal shares were among the biggest decliners.

The Shanghai Composite closed down 0.76% at 3,028 points while the Shenzhen CSI 300 closed down 0.87% at 3,542 points.
