China shares close lower for 3rd day on growth, trade concerns

Shanghai Composite closes down 0.26% at 2,949 points (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Shanghai , 05 Jul - Chinese shares closed lower for a third straight session, underperforming their Asian peers, after recent data pointed to an uneven economic recovery in the country.

Concerns over increased tensions with Taiwan also weighed on investor sentiment today, following reports that China had seized a Taiwanese fishing trawler operating near the Chinese coast.

Caution prevailed as investors look forward to a meeting of China's political leaders from July 15 to 18 known as the Third Plenum, amid expectations that important economic measures could be announced during the event.

The Shanghai Composite closed down 0.26% at 2,949 points, while the Shenzhen CSI 300 fell 0.43% to 3,431 points.
