Boeing shares higher after it agrees to guilty plea over crashes

Shares up 0.7% premarket (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 08 Jul - Shares in Boeing were higher in premarket trading after the US plane maker agreed to plead guilty to a criminal fraud charge and pay a fine to settle a Justice Department investigation into two fatal 737 MAX crashes.

Besides the fine of of 243.6 million dollars, Boeing must also invest at least 455 million dollars in compliance and safety programs and agree to the overseeing of its safety and quality processes for three years, the Justice Department said on Sunday.

The plea deal must now be approved by a federal judge in Texas in order to take effect.
