BHP FY net profit 7.9 bln usd, down 39%

Final div 0.74 usd/shr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Sydney, 27 Aug - The Australian miner BHP said that in the full year ended June 30 attributable profit fell 39% to 7.9 billion US dollars due to one-off charges.

The company booked a 2.7 billion dollar impairment of Western Australia Nickel and 3.8 billion charge related to the Samarco dam failure. The losses were partially offset by a 0.7 billion dollar gain on the disposal of the Blackwater and Daunia mines.

Underlying attributable profit was up 2% to 13.7 billion dollars.

Revenue rose 3% to 55.7 billion dollars.

Underlying EBITDA was up 4% to 29.0 billion dollars.

Free cash flow surged 111% to 11.9 billion dollars.

Net debt dropped to 9.1 billion dollars at the end of June.

The company declared a fully franked final dividend of 0.74 US dollars per share.
