Nikkei 225 rises 0.82%, Sydney S&P ASX 200 gains 1.19% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo , 04 Jul - Asian shares closed mostly higher, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ Composite once again set new interest rate highs as weak US labor data spurred expectations the Federal Reserve could shortly cut interest rates.

The Nikkei index closed up 0.82% at 40,913.65 points, in Sydney the S&P ASX 200 closed up 1.19% at 7,831.80 points while in Seoul the KOSPI closed up 1.09% a at 2,824.39 points.

The Shanghai Composite index was down 0.73% at 2,960.87 points and the Hong Kong Hang Seng index was up 0.18% at 18,029.00 points. In Mumbai the Sensex index was up 0.20% higher at 80,139.86 points.
