Nikkei up 0.68%, ASX 200 up 0.21%, KOSPI up 0.16% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Tokyo, 22 Aug - Asian shares closed higher, tracking Wall Street higher on hopes of an imminent rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.

In the meantime, the Bank of Korea decided to leave the Base Rate unchanged at 3.50%.

The Nikkei was up 0.68% at 38,211.01 points.

In Sydney, the S&P ASX 200 closed up 0.21% at 8,027.00 points, while in Seoul the KOSPI closed up 0.16% at 2,705.35 points.

In late trade, the Shanghai Composite index was down 0.32% at 2,847.50 points and the Hong Kong Hang Seng index was up 0.70% at 17,512.00 points. In Mumbai the Sensex index grew 0.29% to 81,138.44 points.
