Adj Q2 EPS 3.49 usd, above consensus (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - New York, 19 Jul - American Express said its net profits in the second quarter were 3.015 billion dollars compared to 2.174 billion in the same period a year ago.

Diluted earnings per share for the period rose 44% to 4.15 dollars from 2.89, it said.

On an adjusted basis, the company earned 3.49 dollars per share compared to 2.89 a year ago. Analysts were expecting 3.24 dollars.

The company raised its full-year profit forecast to 13.30-13.80 dollars per share, up from a previous range of 12.65-13.15.
