Narrower than expected (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 03 Jul - In May, the US trade deficit for goods rose 0.8% month on month to 75.1 billion dollars, according to data released by the US Census Bureau.

Economists were expecting a trade deficit of 76.3 billion dollars.

Imports declined 0.3% to 336.7 billion dollars while exports fell 0.7% to 261.7 billion.

Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit rose 14.4 billion dollars, or 4.2%, from the same period in 2023.

Exports increased 42.8 billion dollars, or 3.4%; while imports increased 57.2 billion dollars, or 3.6%.
