Below expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 20 Jun - US housing starts in May slid 5.5% to a seasonally adjusted rate of 1,277,000 from the revised April estimate of 1,352,000 and is 19.3% above the May 2023 rate of 1,583,000, the US Census Bureau and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development said.

Expectations were for housing starts of 1.37 million.
