May openings above expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 02 Jul - US job openings in May rose to 8.140 million from 7.919 million the month before, according to data from the US Department of Labor.

Expectations were for 7.960 million openings.

Hires and total separations were little changed at 5.8 million and 5.4 million, respectively. Within separations, quits changed little at 3.5 million as did layoffs and discharges at 1.7 million, it said.
