Below expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 03 Jun - The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index fell to 48.7 in May from 49.2 in April, indicating a 49th month of expansion after one month of contraction in April 2020.

Expectations were for a reading of 49.8.

Any reading over 50.0 indicates growth.

The new orders index fell to 45.4 from 49.1 the previous month while the production index fell to 50.2 from 51.3 in April.

The prices index fell to 57.0 from 60.9 in April and the employment index in May rose to 51.1 from 48.6 the previous month.
