US July trade deficit 78.8 bln usd, up 7.9% mth/mth

In line with expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 04 Sep - In July, the US trade deficit for goods rose 7.9% month on month to 78.8 billion dollars, according to data released by the US Census Bureau.

Economists were expecting a trade deficit of 78.8 billion dollars.

Imports rose 2.1% to 345.4 billion dollars while exports increased 0.5% to 266.6 billion.

Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit rose 36.2 billion dollars, or 7.7%, from the same period in 2023.

Exports increased 65.9 billion dollars, or 3.7%; while imports increased 102.1 billion dollars, or 4.5%.
